How to use this keyword cannibalization report properly?

Here are some of the decisions you can make when you see that multiply pages rank by the same keyword (it’s not always the issue!).
1. Consolidate competing pages
If two or more pages target the same keyword but serve a similar purpose, merge them into a single, authoritative page. Redirect the outdated or weaker pages using a 301 redirect to preserve their SEO value.
2. Optimize internal linking
Ensure that internal links point to the most relevant page for a given keyword. Use anchor text strategically to guide search engines and users to the right page.
3. Use canonical tags
If you need multiple pages with similar content, use canonical tags (rel=canonical) to signal to Google which page should be treated as the primary one.
4. Adjust content strategy
Re-evaluate your content strategy to target a wider range of keywords, including long-tail variations. This avoids multiple pages competing for the same exact keyword.
5. Noindex low-value pages
If certain pages (e.g., tag pages, archive pages) are causing cannibalization but are not essential for search traffic, consider adding a noindex tag to prevent them from being indexed.
6. Optimize meta titles and descriptions
Ensure that each page’s title and meta description are unique and clearly define the page’s focus. Avoid generic keyword stuffing.
How to copy the template?
Duplicate the report as shown in the screenshot below. The first dataset represents Site Impressions, while the second dataset corresponds to URL Impressions. Once copied, it will be available on your Looker Studio files page.

How to automate keyword cannibalization issues tracking?
Sitechecker has it’s own built-in keyword cannibalization checker features. It works in 2 ways:
1/ Based on Google Search Console data
This is the same way as a template above. We group pages by keywords.

However, in Sitechecker you have more opportunities to work with data, because you can immediately go to page audit and check a page’s search performance dynamics, view all search queries by this page, which all content changes and technical issues.

2/ Based on Rank Tracker data
This is something you can’t get in Search Console. In Keyword Rank Tracker you can set up a target URL and we will show you a red icon every time ranked URL doesn’t match the target URL.
